Description

Apple Fritter Bread is a deliciously moist loaf filled with cinnamon-sugar apples and topped with a sweet glaze. The perfect balance of spices and fruit makes this a comforting treat for breakfast, dessert, or a snack.

Ingredients

Nonstick cooking spray, for the pan

1/3 cup light brown sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

2 apples (any kind), peeled and chopped

2/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened

2 large eggs

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 cup plus 1 to 3 tablespoons milk or almond milk

1/2 cup powdered sugar

Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the light brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside. Toss the chopped apples in 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and the remaining granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Spread half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Layer half of the chopped apples on top. Repeat with the remaining batter, cinnamon-sugar, and apples.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with enough milk to achieve a drizzling consistency. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread.
  9. Slice and serve the Apple Fritter Bread as a delicious treat or dessert.

Notes

For extra texture, try adding chopped walnuts, pecans, or almonds to the batter or as a topping.

Add extra spices like nutmeg, cloves, or allspice to the cinnamon-sugar mixture for a more complex flavor.

To make this recipe vegan, use dairy-free butter and plant-based milk, and substitute the eggs with a flax egg or other egg replacer.

For an extra indulgent touch, drizzle caramel sauce along with the glaze.
