Description

Blooming Onion Sauce (Outback Copycat) is a creamy, tangy, and slightly spicy dipping sauce perfect for onion rings, fries, and burgers. This easy-to-make recipe balances smoky paprika, cayenne, and horseradish for the perfect blend of flavors. Ideal for a homemade take on the Outback favorite, it’s a versatile sauce that adds a zesty kick to any meal.

Ingredients

½ cup mayonnaise

¼ cup sour cream

1 tbsp ketchup

1 tbsp prepared horseradish

½ tsp cayenne pepper

½ tsp paprika

1 tsp dried oregano

½ tsp garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, ketchup, horseradish, cayenne pepper, paprika, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  2. Stir until smooth and well-combined.

  3. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

  4. Serve as a dip for onion rings, fries, or as a topping for burgers.

Notes

Adjust the heat by adding more cayenne pepper for a spicier sauce or reducing the horseradish for a milder version.

For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free mayo and sour cream.

For a thicker sauce, add extra sour cream or reduce the amount of mayonnaise.

Fresh horseradish can be used, but use it sparingly as it is much spicier.
