Description

Ingredients

For the Bars:

½ cup butter

1 cup sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon almond extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon salt

3 cups cherry pie filling

For the Glaze:

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon almond extract

1 cup powdered sugar

23 teaspoons milk


Instructions

  • Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

  • Cream: Beat together butter and sugar, then add eggs, vanilla, and almond extract. Mix well until smooth.

  • Combine: In a separate bowl, combine flour and salt. Add to the wet ingredients and mix until fully incorporated.

  • Assemble: Spread 3 cups of batter evenly in the pan, then top with cherry pie filling. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter on top.

  • Bake: Bake for 35-40 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Let the bars cool completely.

  • Glaze: Whisk together glaze ingredients and drizzle over the cooled bars.

Notes

Different Fruit: Swap the cherry pie filling for blueberry, apple, or peach pie filling for a new twist.

Add Nuts: Add chopped almonds or walnuts to the batter for extra crunch.

Make it Vegan: Use dairy-free butter and an egg replacer to make a vegan version.
