Description

Ingredients

Butter

Diced yellow onions

Sliced mushrooms

Diced green peppers

All-purpose flour

Chicken broth

Heavy cream

Onion powder

Garlic powder

Pepper

Pimentos, diced and drained

Cooked, shredded chicken


Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large sauté pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add diced onions and sliced mushrooms to the pan and cook until onions are translucent.
  3. Add diced green peppers and stir well.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well to combine.
  5. Cook the flour and vegetable mixture for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Slowly add chicken broth, stirring until the mixture thickens.
  7. Pour in heavy cream, reduce the heat to low, and stir well.
  8. Add onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  9. Stir in diced pimentos and shredded chicken until everything is well mixed and heated through.
  10. Serve over cooked biscuits, rice, or pasta.

Notes

Add frozen peas, carrots, or corn for extra flavor and nutrition.
