Ingredients
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, chili powder, and salt. Add chicken pieces and mix well. Cover and refrigerate to marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for deeper flavor.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion until soft and golden, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add garlic and ginger; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add marinated chicken to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato sauce and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add heavy cream and simmer for another 5 minutes until heated through. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro, over rice or with naan bread.

- For a dairy-free version, use coconut milk instead of cream.
