Description

These Corned Beef Burgers with Irish Cheddar Cheese are a flavorful twist on the classic burger, combining juicy ground beef with savory corned beef for a rich, mouthwatering patty. Topped with melted Irish cheddar, tangy sauerkraut, and a bold mustard spread, this burger is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or any gourmet burger night.

Ingredients

  • ½ lb ground corned beef
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • Dash of hot sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
  • 4 slices Irish cheddar cheese
  • 4 whole wheat buns
  • Yellow mustard

Instructions

Prepare the Patties

  1. Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground corned beef, ground beef, beef broth, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until evenly combined.
  2. Form Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into burger patties.

Cook the Burgers

  1. Heat the Skillet: In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil.
  2. Cook the Patties: Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  3. Rest: Remove from the skillet and let the patties rest on a plate.

Melt the Cheese

  1. Broil the Cheese: Preheat the broiler. Place each patty on a baking sheet, top with a slice of Irish cheddar, and broil for about 1-2 minutes until melted.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. Toast the Buns: Lightly toast the whole wheat buns under the broiler.
  2. Build the Burger: Spread yellow mustard on the bottom bun, place the cheesy patty on top, add sauerkraut, and cover with the top bun.

Notes

  • For a Spicy Kick: Use spicy brown mustard or add sliced jalapeños.
  • Alternative Cheese Options: Swap Irish cheddar for Swiss or aged white cheddar.
  • Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free buns and check that all condiments are gluten-free.
