Description

This Creamy Dijon Chicken is a savory and indulgent dish featuring tender chicken breasts in a creamy Dijon mustard sauce. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s perfect for both busy weeknights and special occasions. Serve it over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes for a complete, flavorful meal!

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup dry white wine
  • ½ cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Chicken

  • Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook chicken for 6-8 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

2. Make the Sauce

  • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Add garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Deglaze the pan with white wine, scraping up any browned bits from the skillet.
  • Stir in heavy cream and Dijon mustard, and let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes until it thickens.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

3. Combine & Serve

  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and coat with the sauce.
  • Let the chicken simmer in the sauce for a few minutes until fully coated.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
  • Serve over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • For extra spice, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • For a lighter version, swap heavy cream for half-and-half.
  • Vegetarian option: Substitute chicken with mushrooms or tofu.
  • Add veggies: Stir in spinach or peas for added color and nutrition.
