Customize with your favorite add-ins for a flavorful treat everyone will love!

Ingredients

1 (22 oz) bag frozen shredded hash browns, thawed and well-drained

1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

¼ cup finely diced onion

2 tablespoons melted butter

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and coat it with nonstick spray or parchment paper.

  • Mix ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, shredded cheese, diced onion, melted butter, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Stir until evenly mixed.

  • Shape and spread: Spread the mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula to gently press it down to compact the mixture slightly.

  • Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are deeply golden and crispy. For extra crispiness, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes at the end.

  • Serve: Let cool slightly before slicing into squares or wedges. Serve ho

Notes

Cheese swap: Mozzarella, pepper jack, or a blend of cheeses also work well for a different flavor.

Spice it up: Add garlic powder, paprika, or crushed red pepper to kick things up a notch.

Mini version: Spoon the mixture into a greased muffin tin for individual hash brown “cups.”
