Description

Crispy Smashed Potatoes are the ultimate side dish, with a golden, crispy exterior and a fluffy interior. Boiled baby potatoes are smashed, roasted, and seasoned to perfection. Simple to make, customizable, and perfect for pairing with any main dish or dipping sauce.

Ingredients

lbs baby potatoes (Yukon Gold or red potatoes)

2 tbsp salt (for boiling water)

3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

1 tsp garlic powder

½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Potatoes:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add 2 tbsp salt.
Add the baby potatoes and cook for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
    Drain and let cool slightly.

  2. Smash the Potatoes:
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Place the potatoes on a greased baking sheet. Use a fork or the bottom of a glass to gently press each potato until flattened to about ½ inch thick.

  3. Season & Roast:
In a small bowl, mix olive oil (or melted butter), garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Drizzle this mixture over the smashed potatoes.
Roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden.

  4. Garnish & Serve:
Sprinkle with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese (optional).
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Cheesy Smashed Potatoes: Add cheddar or Parmesan in the last 5 minutes of baking.

Spicy Version: Sprinkle with cayenne or red pepper flakes for heat.

Herb Butter: Toss with garlic herb butter after baking.

Lemon Garlic: Add lemon zest and extra garlic powder for a fresh twist.
