Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup ricotta cheese
½ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in ricotta cheese, milk, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared pan.
- Add extra cocoa powder to remaining batter and stir well to create the chocolate portion.
- Drop spoonfuls of chocolate batter over the plain batter in the pan.
- Use a knife to gently swirl the two batters together for a marble effect.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
