Description

This Easy and Fast Cinnamon Twist Loaf is a delightful, sweet bread that combines the irresistible flavor of cinnamon rolls with a quicker preparation. Soft, buttery layers twisted with cinnamon sugar, topped with a luscious glaze or cream cheese frosting, make this loaf a perfect treat for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

1 1/2 cups warm water

1 tablespoon dry active yeast

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

For the Filling:

2 tablespoons salted butter, melted

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

For the Buttery Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

4 tablespoons room temperature butter

34 tablespoons heavy cream

Optional Cream Cheese Frosting:

2 ounces cream cheese, softened

4 tablespoons salted butter, room temp

2/3 cup powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Warm Vanilla Frosting:

2 cups powdered sugar

2 tablespoons salted butter, room temp

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

24 tablespoons milk or heavy cream

Instructions

  • Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a mixer. Let it proof for about 5 minutes until foamy.

  • Add salt and flour. Mix until a smooth dough forms. Turn out onto a floured counter and let rise covered for 10 minutes.

  • Roll dough into a 10×12-inch rectangle. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar filling evenly.

  • Roll the dough lengthwise, as if making cinnamon rolls.

  • Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cut the roll down the center lengthwise, leaving one end attached. Twist the dough ropes and tuck ends under.

  • Let rise for 20 minutes while you preheat the oven to 375°F.

  • Bake for 23-25 minutes or until lightly golden.

  • Cool for 10-15 minutes before drizzling with glaze or frosting.

Notes

For a fruity twist, add thin apple slices to the filling.

Add chopped pecans or walnuts for a nutty crunch.

For a chocolate variation, sprinkle in chocolate chips.

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage. Reheat before serving.
