Description

Garlic Mushroom Grilled Cheese is the ultimate comfort food sandwich, combining savory mushrooms, aromatic garlic, and sharp cheddar cheese, all grilled between crispy, golden sourdough bread. Perfect for a cozy meal, this indulgent sandwich is sure to become a favorite.

Ingredients

Sourdough bread

Fresh mushrooms (button or cremini)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon unsalted butter (plus extra for grilling)

Sharp cheddar cheese

Fresh thyme (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Chop the mushrooms and mince the garlic.

Cook the Mushrooms: In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add mushrooms and sauté for 5-7 minutes until soft and golden brown.

Add Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and thyme (if using) and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Remove from heat.

Assemble the Sandwich: Layer the sautéed mushrooms and cheddar cheese between two slices of sourdough bread.

Grill the Sandwich: Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and add butter. Grill the sandwich on both sides until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Serve: Let the sandwich cool slightly before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

Swap cheddar with other cheeses like Gruyère or fontina for different flavors.

Fresh thyme is optional; feel free to use rosemary or oregano for a different herbal twist.

This sandwich is best served fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 day.
