½ cup powdered sugar
¼ cup milk
2 tablespoons maple syrup
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 slices white bread, cut into thirds
For cooking:
Nonstick spray (or butter/oil)
For the cinnamon sugar coating:
½ cup granulated sugar
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, powdered sugar, milk, maple syrup, and cinnamon until smooth.
-
Cut bread slices into thirds. Dip each piece briefly into the egg mixture.
-
In a shallow bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
-
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and spray with nonstick spray.
-
Cook dipped bread sticks for 1–2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
-
While still warm, roll the sticks in the cinnamon sugar coating.
-
Serve immediately with maple syrup, whipped cream, or fresh fruit.
Notes
Use slightly stale or day-old bread for better absorption of the egg mixture.
For a chocolate drizzle, melt chocolate and pour over the sticks for a richer treat.
For a savory version, skip the cinnamon sugar and serve with parmesan and herbs.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
