Description

Homemade French Toast Sticks are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with a golden-brown cinnamon sugar coating. Perfect for dipping in syrup or serving with fresh fruit, these easy-to-make sticks are a fun and delicious breakfast or snack.

Ingredients

For the egg mixture:

2 large eggs

½ cup powdered sugar

¼ cup milk

2 tablespoons maple syrup

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

6 slices white bread, cut into thirds

For cooking:

Nonstick spray (or butter/oil)

For the cinnamon sugar coating:

½ cup granulated sugar

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, powdered sugar, milk, maple syrup, and cinnamon until smooth.

  • Cut bread slices into thirds. Dip each piece briefly into the egg mixture.

  • In a shallow bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon for the coating.

  • Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and spray with nonstick spray.

  • Cook dipped bread sticks for 1–2 minutes on each side until golden brown.

  • While still warm, roll the sticks in the cinnamon sugar coating.

  • Serve immediately with maple syrup, whipped cream, or fresh fruit.

Notes

Use slightly stale or day-old bread for better absorption of the egg mixture.

For a chocolate drizzle, melt chocolate and pour over the sticks for a richer treat.

For a savory version, skip the cinnamon sugar and serve with parmesan and herbs.

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
