Description

Kladdkaka, the Swedish sticky chocolate cake, is a rich, gooey, and indulgent dessert with a crispy top and a fudgy interior. Similar to a brownie but even more decadent, this easy-to-make cake is perfect for any chocolate lover. With simple ingredients and minimal prep time, Kladdkaka is sure to become your go-to dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 11 tbsp butter
  • 1 ¼ cups sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar (or extract)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 6 tbsp cocoa powder
  • Powdered sugar for decoration

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-10 inch springform pan with baking paper.
  • Prepare the Batter:
    • Melt the butter and let it cool slightly before stirring in the sugar and eggs. Mix well.
    • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and vanilla sugar. Add the dry ingredients to the butter-egg mixture and mix until smooth.
  • Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 25 minutes. The cake should have a crispy top and sides, while the center remains gooey and slightly jiggly.
  • Cool and Decorate: Allow the cake to cool completely. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar.
  • Chill and Slice: Chill the cake in the fridge before slicing for clean cuts.

Notes

  • Serving Tips: Kladdkaka is delicious on its own or served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence. Top with whipped cream and fresh berries for a perfect contrast to the rich chocolate flavor.
  • Storage: Store leftover Kladdkaka in the fridge for up to 3 days. It can also be served warm (straight from the fridge) or at room temperature for a messy yet delicious experience.
  • Flavor Variations: Add chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or even a pinch of orange zest for a twist on the classic.
  • Gluten-Free: To make this cake gluten-free, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
