Description
A tropical twist on the classic margarita featuring smooth spirit, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, and sweet passion fruit purée, served with a spicy chili salt rim and garnished with passion fruit and edible flowers.
Ingredients
2 ounces smooth, flavorful spirit
1 ounce Cointreau or triple sec
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce passion fruit purée
Pulp of half a passion fruit
Ice
Optional: ½ ounce agave syrup (1 tablespoon) for extra sweetness
Optional: ½ ounce mezcal (1 tablespoon) for smoky flavor
For rimming: lime wedge and chili salt, flaky sea salt, or tajín
Garnish: passion fruit slice and edible flower (optional)
Instructions
- Rub lime wedge around the rim of the glass and dip in chili salt or tajín; set aside.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add spirit, Cointreau, lime juice, passion fruit purée, and optionally agave syrup and mezcal.
- Shake vigorously until shaker is very cold.
- Fill rimmed glass with ice, add passion fruit pulp, then strain cocktail into the glass.
- Garnish with passion fruit slice and edible flower if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use blood orange juice for a citrus twist.
Substitute fresh passion fruit purée with store-bought tropical purée blends.
Adjust sweetness with more or less agave syrup.
Add soda water for a lighter, fizzy version.
For purée: simmer passion fruit pulp with sugar and water, then strain.
