Description

Steak & Queso Rice is a flavorful Tex-Mex dish featuring juicy sirloin steak, creamy Pancho’s White Queso, and seasoned rice. It’s a quick, satisfying meal perfect for busy nights or a special dinner, with a balance of hearty and creamy textures.

Ingredients

1 cup long grain white rice

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 tablespoon minced garlic

2 cups chicken broth

8 ounces tomato sauce

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon dried cilantro

1 pound sirloin steak, sliced

2 tablespoons butter

Montreal steak spice (to taste)

Pancho’s White Queso (enough for drizzling)

Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnishing

Flour tortillas for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the rice and stir until lightly browned. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened.
  2. Pour in chicken broth and tomato sauce. Stir in salt, pepper, cumin, and dried cilantro. Bring to a boil, then lower heat, cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes until the rice is tender.
  3. In a separate skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sirloin steak, seasoning with Montreal steak spice. Cook to desired doneness, then remove and set aside.
  4. Once the rice is done, remove it from heat and let it sit for 10 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork.
  5. Assemble the dish by layering the cooked rice on a platter, topping with the steak, and drizzling with Pancho’s White Queso. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with warm tortillas on the side.

Notes

Add sautéed bell peppers or corn for extra flavor and texture.

For a spicier version, include jalapeños or chili flakes in the rice or steak.

Substitute the steak with ground beef or grilled chicken for variation.

Ensure Pancho’s White Queso is gluten-free for dietary restrictions.
