Description

This BBQ chicken recipe features juicy marinated chicken breast pieces grilled with colorful peppers and onions on skewers. The sweet and smoky BBQ flavor makes it perfect for summer cookouts or easy weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

7 chicken breasts

1 yellow pepper

1 red pepper

1 large red onion

1 tbsp salt

1 tbsp Mrs. Dash Seasoning

1 tbsp Grill Mates Smokehouse Maple Seasoning

½ tsp black ground pepper

1½ cups Sweet BBQ Sauce

½ cup BBQ Sauce (for brushing)


Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients: Mix all the seasonings on a large plate. Trim fat from the chicken and cut into 1-inch pieces. Rinse and drain.
  2. Prep the Vegetables: Wash and cut peppers into squares. Peel and cut the red onion into chunks. Combine with chicken in a large bowl.
  3. Season and Marinate: Sprinkle the seasoning mix over chicken and vegetables. Add 1½ cups BBQ sauce and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours.
  4. Skewer the Ingredients: Thread chicken and vegetables onto metal or pre-soaked wooden skewers.
  5. Grill the Skewers: Preheat grill to medium-high, then reduce to low. Grill skewers for 15 minutes, then flip.
  6. Brush with Sauce and Grill: Brush with BBQ sauce, grill another 15 minutes. Flip again, brush the other side, and grill another 10–15 minutes until chicken is cooked and slightly charred.
  7. Serve: Remove from grill and serve hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

Add hot sauce or chili flakes for extra heat.

Use thighs or shrimp for variation.

Add mushrooms, zucchini, or pineapple for added variety and color.

Ensure skewers are turned occasionally for even cooking.
