Description
Tiramisu Truffles are a delicious, bite-sized version of the classic Italian dessert, combining the rich flavors of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, creamy mascarpone, and a smooth chocolate coating. These no-bake truffles are easy to make and perfect for sharing at gatherings or satisfying your sweet tooth with a decadent, coffee-flavored treat.
Ingredients
For the Truffle Filling:
- 12 ladyfingers (Savoiardi biscuits), crushed into fine crumbs
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2/3 cup mascarpone cheese, at room temperature
- 2–3 tablespoons strong brewed espresso, cooled
For the Coating:
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: Additional cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
-
Prepare the Filling:
- In a bowl, combine crushed ladyfingers and sugar.
- Add mascarpone cheese and 2 tablespoons of cooled espresso.
- Mix until a thick, dough-like consistency forms. If too dry, gradually add the remaining espresso.
-
Chill the Mixture:
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 45 minutes to 1 hour to firm up the mixture.
-
Shape the Truffles:
- Once chilled, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
-
Freeze:
- Freeze the truffles for about 10 minutes to firm them up before dipping.
-
Prepare the Coating:
- Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 20-second intervals and stirring until smooth.
-
Dip the Truffles:
- Using a fork, dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Tap the fork gently to remove excess chocolate.
- Return the coated truffles to the baking sheet.
-
Optional Dusting:
- Before the chocolate sets, dust the truffles with cocoa powder for an extra flavor boost.
-
Set the Coating:
- Refrigerate the truffles for 10-15 minutes to allow the chocolate coating to harden.
Notes
- For a different texture, roll the truffles in cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut instead of chocolate.
- Add a splash of coffee liqueur or vanilla extract to the filling for an added depth of flavor.
- To make the truffles dairy-free, use plant-based mascarpone and dairy-free chocolate.
