Description

Tiramisu Truffles are a delicious, bite-sized version of the classic Italian dessert, combining the rich flavors of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, creamy mascarpone, and a smooth chocolate coating. These no-bake truffles are easy to make and perfect for sharing at gatherings or satisfying your sweet tooth with a decadent, coffee-flavored treat.

Ingredients

For the Truffle Filling:

  • 12 ladyfingers (Savoiardi biscuits), crushed into fine crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2/3 cup mascarpone cheese, at room temperature
  • 23 tablespoons strong brewed espresso, cooled

For the Coating:

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: Additional cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:

    • In a bowl, combine crushed ladyfingers and sugar.
    • Add mascarpone cheese and 2 tablespoons of cooled espresso.
    • Mix until a thick, dough-like consistency forms. If too dry, gradually add the remaining espresso.
  2. Chill the Mixture:

    • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 45 minutes to 1 hour to firm up the mixture.
  3. Shape the Truffles:

    • Once chilled, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Freeze:

    • Freeze the truffles for about 10 minutes to firm them up before dipping.
  5. Prepare the Coating:

    • Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 20-second intervals and stirring until smooth.
  6. Dip the Truffles:

    • Using a fork, dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Tap the fork gently to remove excess chocolate.
    • Return the coated truffles to the baking sheet.
  7. Optional Dusting:

    • Before the chocolate sets, dust the truffles with cocoa powder for an extra flavor boost.
  8. Set the Coating:

    • Refrigerate the truffles for 10-15 minutes to allow the chocolate coating to harden.

Notes

  • For a different texture, roll the truffles in cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut instead of chocolate.
  • Add a splash of coffee liqueur or vanilla extract to the filling for an added depth of flavor.
  • To make the truffles dairy-free, use plant-based mascarpone and dairy-free chocolate.
