Description
The Watermelon Margarita is a refreshing summer cocktail made with fresh watermelon, lime, and a kick of your favorite spirit. It’s sweet, tangy, and perfect for sipping on a hot day or at a BBQ.
Ingredients
½ cup your choice of spirit
¼ cup triple sec or orange liqueur
⅓ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
1 cup fresh watermelon, blended and strained
1–2 tbsp agave syrup (adjust to taste)
Ice
Coarse salt or Tajín, for rimming (optional)
Watermelon wedges & lime wedges, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Glasses: Run a lime wedge around the rim of each glass. Dip the rims into coarse salt or Tajín for a flavorful and tangy rim. Set the glasses aside.
- Mix the Margarita: In a blender, blend the fresh watermelon until smooth, then strain it to remove any pulp. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the spirit, triple sec, lime juice, watermelon juice, and agave syrup. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
- Serve & Garnish: Fill each prepared glass with fresh ice. Strain the margarita mixture over the ice. Garnish with a watermelon wedge and a lime wedge.
- Enjoy: Sip and enjoy your refreshing Watermelon Margarita!
Notes
For a frozen version, blend the watermelon juice with ice and the rest of the ingredients until smooth.
If you like spice, add chili powder or jalapeño slices to the mix for a spicy kick.
For a mocktail version, omit the alcohol and top with soda water or sparkling water.
Fresh watermelon juice is ideal, but you can use pre-made watermelon juice if needed.
