Description

Chocolate Delight is a classic Southern layered dessert featuring a buttery pecan crust, creamy sweetened cream cheese, rich pudding, and fluffy whipped topping. This nostalgic treat, popularized by Erin Napier’s grandmother Ouida, is perfect for gatherings and potlucks.


Ingredients

1 cup self-rising flour

1 cup toasted pecans, chopped

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 (8-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided

2 cups whole milk

1 (3.4-ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix

1 (3.4-ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix

Chocolate syrup, for drizzling (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Coat a 13×9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Mix flour, pecans, and melted butter; press into the baking dish. Bake 20 minutes until set. Cool completely.
  3. Beat cream cheese until smooth, add powdered sugar, then fold in 1 cup whipped topping. Spread over crust.
  4. Whisk milk with both pudding mixes until thickened. Let stand briefly, then spread over cream cheese layer.
  5. Top with remaining whipped topping and drizzle with chocolate syrup if desired.
  6. Chill at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Use graham cracker or cookie crust as an alternative base.

Swap pudding flavors or add fresh fruit layers for variation.

Top with nuts or chocolate chips for added texture.
