Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Honey (for drizzling)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat milk and olive oil with salt over medium-high heat until milk is hot, but not boiling.
- Add flour to the saucepan all at once, stirring vigorously until the dough forms into a ball. Stir until it pulls away from the pan sides.
- Transfer dough to a loaf pan lined with cling film and chill for several hours until firm.
- Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep skillet or saucepan.
- Remove dough from the fridge, cut into small pieces, and fry in batches for 4-5 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Warm honey and drizzle it generously over the fritters, turning them to coat each side.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Feel free to add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dough for a spiced flavor.
- For a fruity variation, add diced apples or berries into the dough before frying.
- Experiment with flavored honey, like lavender or orange blossom, for a unique twist.
- If you prefer, top the fritters with powdered sugar or melted chocolate instead of honey.
