Description

The Hot Honey Mango Tajín Margarita combines the sweetness of mango with a spicy kick of hot honey and a Tajín-rimmed glass. Garnished with a dried árbol pepper, it’s a refreshing, bold cocktail perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

1 cup frozen organic mango chunks

12 tsp hot honey

Pinch of chili powder (optional)

2 oz spirit of your choice

1 oz fresh lime juice

¾ oz Cointreau (or other orange liqueur)

½ cup mango purée

1 cup ice

Tajín for the rim

Lime wedge for garnish

1 dried árbol pepper

Instructions

  1. Make the Mango Purée: Blend the frozen mango chunks, hot honey, and chili powder (if using) until smooth. If the purée is too thick, add a splash of water or lime juice to adjust the consistency.
  2. Rim the Glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip it into Tajín, ensuring the entire rim is coated with the flavorful spice.
  3. Mix the Margarita: For a frozen margarita, blend the spirit, lime juice, Cointreau, mango purée, and ice until smooth. For a shaken margarita, shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and strain into a Tajín-rimmed glass filled with fresh ice.
  4. Garnish & Serve: Drizzle some hot honey inside the glass for an extra kick of sweetness. Rinse and deseed the árbol pepper before adding it to the glass for a milder spice or leave the seeds in for more intense heat. Finish by garnishing with a lime wedge.

Notes

For extra heat, increase the amount of chili powder or hot honey in the mango purée, or leave the seeds in the árbol pepper garnish for more heat.

If you prefer a frozen margarita, blend the ingredients with more ice to create a slushy texture.

Experiment with different fruits like strawberries, peaches, or pineapple for a unique twist on the classic margarita flavor.

Hot honey can be found at specialty stores or online, or you can make your own by heating honey with chili peppers.

If the drink is too spicy, reduce the amount of chili powder or hot honey in the mango purée or deseed the árbol pepper before adding it as a garnish.

For a non-alcoholic version, omit the spirit and Cointreau, and use sparkling water or club soda for fizz.
